Matt caught his first fish when he was one and a half years old and he hasn’t looked back since. Fishing started off as a passion for Matt and transformed into a career after his first summer as a college student looking for work. Matt found himself heading to North Western Ontario to guide on famous Lake of the Woods, where he honed his skills on the many different game fish available in the lake. This led to Matt guiding on some of the best lakes in Canada which include Lake Athabasca, Kasba Lake, and Lakes Superior and Huron. Matt has had the opportunity to guide at some of the premier fishing destinations across Canada which has enabled him to build a solid freshwater fishing portfolio.

Matt and his brother Aron are the owner/operators of Ontario North Fishing Adventures www.ontarionorthfishing.com . Ontario North Fishing Adventures consists of a small outfitter located in Oba in the heart of Northern Ontario’s wilderness. Their business specializes in consistently putting clients onto Walleye, Northern Pike, Perch and Whitefish. When Matt isn’t up north he is plying his angling skills in his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area where he chases both cold and warm water species. These include four different salmon species (Atlantic, Chinook, Coho, Pink), Steelhead, Brook Trout, Lake Trout and Whitefish as well as Walleye, Bass, Pike and Perch. Whether it be hard or soft water, Matt knows WHEN, WHERE, and HOW to catch these fish. Matt has been featured in outdoor publications such as Outdoor Canada and In-Fisherman and has guided many of the industries pros including having the pleasure of guiding Italo Labignan and Barb Labignan.

Matt has a great personality and is well known in his fishing community where he is in contact with an incredible network of other fishing pros and local experts. With his vast experience, know how and passion there isn’t a fish species alive that doesn’t turn tail and swim when Matt heads to the water.
